Rush,
the Canadian Trio, that in my point of view, is close to the perfection
in music. Their first album, Rush, came out in 1974 and the lineup of the
band has remain the same since 1975. Over the years Lerxst, Pratt and Dirk,
the names they use for each other, have won several awards in the Guitar
Player Magazine; Best all Around in 1986 Modern Drummer, in that way excluding
Neil Peart from farther nominations for Best Drummer and Best Percussionist
after winning those awards for more than four consecutive years; inducted
into the Hall of Fame of these magazines respectively; and received the
Order of Canada: The Toronto Sun, from the Canadian Press.
In 1976 their album 2112 hit the streets and marked a point in the endless
ascend of their career. By 1981 their record Moving Pictures was making
news all around the world and the leading single Tom Sawyer have grown
to become a classic. After that Rush has kept evolving into different sounds
releasing more albums including Grace Under Pressure(p/g), 1984; Power
Windows, 1985; and Presto, 1989; my personal favorites. Finally Test For
Echo their 20th and latest album came out in 1996, it has the same power
and energy that they had on their first album back in 1974. For me Rush
= Ever Lasting Perfection. Or as they put it: INDIVIDUALLY, WE ARE AN ASS;
BUT TOGETHER, WE ARE A GENIUS.
